A unique continuing
education opportunity is available this year. It will be the Nevada
Environmental Health Association's annual educational conference,
August 4-6, 2009 in Las Vegas. The FDA will also be holding
its Pacific Region Retail Food Safety Seminar in conjunction with
their 2009 AEC.
Effective immediately Laser Grade testing will be
the only means of testing in Nevada. This will add
an additional $80 fee for the applicant. Our current Laser Grading
procedures are:
Applications for Lasergrade testing must be made in writing to
the NV REHS Board and must include a check for $80.00.
Once in receipt of a request, Board will order a testing voucher
for the applicant. Once the testing voucher is received by the
applicant, they may take the voucher to a Lasergrade testing
center to sit for the exam.

Official results will received via the NVREHS Board by mail.
Applicants must notify thetest proctoring
agency (SNHD or WCDHD) at least 30 days in advance if they want to
sit for an exam. This gives the test proctors time to order
the appropriate number of tests OR if there are no applicants to
cancel a test date.

New regular registration applicants must meet one of the
following three requirements prior to sitting for the
examination:
1. Possess a baccalaureate or higher degree in
environmental health or environmental health science
from an institution of higher education approved by the
Board.
2. Possess a master’s degree in public health from an
institution of higher education approved by the Board.
3. Possess training or experience obtained during
service in the military forces of this State or the
United States of America which the Board determines is
equivalent to at least 2 years of experience in the
practice of environmental health.
